EMS Controlled Substance Relief Bill Filed in Congress – HR 4365

Congressman Richard Hudson (R-North Carolina) introduced the “Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2016,” which would update the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) as it relates to EMS activity.  Some Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) offices have provided conflicting interpretation of the CSA as it relates to EMS activity, and H.R. 4365 would attempt to provide clarity.

One Texas Member of Congress, Blake Farenthold (R-Corpus Christi), serves as an original co-sponsor.  Next week, TEMSA will provide guidance regarding how Texas EMS agencies can encourage their Texas Members of Congress can sign on as co-sponsors.
