Medicare’s ET3 Program
Medicare Medicare announced the voluntary Emergency Triage, Treat and Treatment (ET3) model on February 14, 2019, and the model will cut down on inappropriate emergency department transports by allowing EMS agencies to use innovative strategies such as telemedicine and treatment on scene to address low-acuity 911 calls.

Texas’ ET3 Model for Medicaid
The 2021 Texas Legislature created the ET3 model for Texas Medicaid. Texas Medicaid patients and and EMS agencies now have the option for treatment in place and transport to alternative sites of care under the direction of a medical director for non-emergency situations.
