San Antonio Fire Department’s Clinical Dispatch Program:
Seeing Is Believing, Now What?
Bryan Norris (San Antonio Fire Department)

The presentation will examine ways that EMS agencies of all different sizes can implement aspects of the San Antonio program.

The Clinical Dispatch Program was developed in an effort to reduce the responses of emergency units to low acuity calls for service. The program allows paramedic dispatchers to assess and utilize an application from the dispatch center to view the scene and the patients’ surroundings to provide care based on video imagery versus just a verbal description. The program has resulted in reduced call volume, safer scenes, improved situational awareness for responders, and economic efficiency.
